The Witch's Circle

After the peak of the Witch's year settles down, we will all get ready for our darker, colder time.  Just as our ancestors took this opportunity to spend time with neighbors and kin and share stories and information, as well as help out with any chores, I thought that it might be nice to have some lively discussions on witchy topics.

So I take this opportunity to ask you all - what witchy topics are you interested in discussing?  Is there more about a certain subject that you want to know ?  Are there areas of the Craft that you've never really understood?  Are there favorite witchy topics you'd like to talk about with others?

This is an interactive project - so when a topic begins, you can certainly comment on my blog entry, but you can also use the entry as a blog prompt for your own post!

I think this will be a great way, not only to get questions answered, talk more in depth about your favorite topics, find new blogs, and attract new readers to yours!

Please comment on this post with any and all ideas on the subjects you're dying to talk about, or even those you have a mild interest in. - doesn't matter.  I will start the whole ball rolling on November 2 and I plan to change the topic about once a week.

I would be interested to hear other Pagans speak about their opinions of science. I am a scientist myself, dedicating college and my career to it. I often see spirituality and religions (all types) butting heads - but I don't see that as necessary. I would love to write about that topic and read what others think!

I think that this sounds like a lot of fun! I don't have any specific topics to suggest at the moment, but I'm looking forward to talking with others! ^-^

XOXO

treeforest - very interesting subject! thank you.

Blakk Duchess - Glad you'll be joining in. Maybe you'll come up with a topic as we go!

Aine, count me in for discussion. I'm interested in talking with treeforest, for sure!

Another topic, perhaps take different forms of Paganism and discuss?

Aine said...

Kallan - Good idea! I will put it out there - and see if I can get some people from other traditions to do a guest post!

Hi All. It's too much to get into here but I would suggest that a look at Goethean Science is valuable when pondering the issue of science, spirituality and religion.

I kind of sort of have a topic I'd like to see discussed. For my own education of course.

What constitutes a spell?

I'm assuming that everyone has a different definition for themselves, but I'm curious to hear them all. Is it all just incantation or does it need more substance than just the words? Where is the line drawn?

If anyone has ever seen Megan Follows as Anne of Green Gables, they might remember one of my favorite quotes ever. She's being taught how to pray and she says that she's never seen the use in it, but that if she had ever really felt the need, she'd just go out under the stars and feel a prayer. Could it ever be something similar to that?

Love this idea. :)

Do you want in depth questions or topics or beginner ones?

Like, for example, what the thought is between what being a witch means to you vs. being Wiccan...how the two are the same and different. I would love to hear from different bloggers and have guest postings on my blog too.

Best,

Dana @ http://onthebroomstick.blogspot.com/

Meadow - thanks for the suggestion. For the science topic, I have some general ideas, but I'm certainly going to need some help from others blogging about that too - I think I'm going to learn something very interesting! So please be sure to jump in!.

angelwick and punky - my favorite topic! I'm sure we'll get a lot of different points of view on this. I do think they can be simple, but...

Dana - another great idea!

The topics can be for beginners or for people who have been practicing for years.

I do a lot of work with the ancestors. I'd like to see a discussion about what the term 'ancestors' means to each of us. For me its more than just my own blood line. I'd love to hear other views.

I love this idea! I'd like to see how others tackle things like trancework and meditation; two things that I have an extremely difficult time getting my head in the right space for.

I also think it would sort of fun to see how other people interpret the god/goddess, Wheel of the Year mythologies.

I'm a druid, but I'm married to a Witch and I know there are as many differences between the paths as there are similarities. I think it would be fascinating to discus that.

Aine said...

Hermit - yes and perfect for this time of year. I work a lot with the ancestors myself, not just as Samhain. Good topic!

Danni - great ideas! I know that for some traditions trance work is very important and for others it's practically non-existent. I think this would be very interesting.

Aine said...

Sorayonn- Yes, this would be interesting. I don't know very much about the Druid path, so maybe you could do a guest post on that...

I currently don't have a subject in mind, my poor mind is doing great right now just remembering my name, much less coming up with topics to discuss lol, but this sounds like an awesome idea and I'll definitely be following along!

I'm a solitary, but it would be really nice to have sit and have coffee/tea with someone of like mind...how do you find someone in your area without coming out of the broom closet to the world...

Aine said...

Judy - Great question. I will definitely ponder this and put it out there for others!!
